Installing the Convo app

Get started with Convo on your Mac in just a few simple steps. This guide will walk you through downloading and installing the Convo app.

System Requirements

  • macOS: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  • Processor: Intel or Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)
  • RAM: 8GB minimum (16GB recommended)
  • Storage: 500MB available space
  • Internet: Active internet connection required

Step 1: Download Convo

  1. Visit www.itsconvo.com
  2. Click the "Download for Mac" button
  3. The Convo.dmg file will download to your Downloads folder
  4. Wait for the download to complete

Step 2: Install Convo

  1. Open the downloaded file

    Double-click Convo.dmg in your Downloads folder

  2. Drag Convo to Applications

    A window will appear showing the Convo icon and your Applications folder. Drag the Convo icon into the Applications folder

  3. Eject the installer

    Once copied, right-click the Convo disk icon on your desktop and select "Eject"

Step 3: First Launch

  1. Open Convo

    Go to Applications folder and double-click Convo

  2. Security prompt (if shown)

    If macOS shows a security warning, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General, and click "Open Anyway"

  3. Grant permissions

    Convo will request permissions for microphone and accessibility. Click "Allow" for each

Pro tip: Add Convo to your Dock by right-clicking the icon in your Dock while it's running and selecting Options → Keep in Dock.

Required Permissions

For Convo to work properly, you'll need to grant the following permissions:

Microphone Access

Required to capture and analyze meeting audio in real-time

System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Microphone → ✓ Convo

Accessibility Access

Allows Convo to display AI insights and suggestions

System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Accessibility → ✓ Convo

Screen Recording (Optional)

Enables advanced meeting detection and context awareness

System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Screen Recording → ✓ Convo

Sign In or Create Account

  1. Launch Convo from your Applications folder
  2. Click "Sign In" if you have an account, or "Create Account" for new users
  3. Follow the prompts to complete authentication
  4. Once signed in, Convo is ready to use!

Troubleshooting Installation

"Convo can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"

This is a standard macOS security feature. Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General, and click "Open Anyway" next to the message about Convo.

App won't launch after installation

  1. Ensure you have macOS 10.15 or later
  2. Restart your Mac and try again
  3. Delete Convo from Applications and reinstall
  4. Check that you have sufficient storage space

Permission dialogs not appearing

Manually grant permissions by going to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy tab, then add Convo to Microphone, Accessibility, and Screen Recording.

Updating Convo

Convo automatically checks for updates when you launch the app. When an update is available:

  1. A notification will appear in the app
  2. Click "Update Now" to download and install
  3. Convo will restart with the latest version

You can also manually check for updates from the Convo menu: Convo → Check for Updates

Uninstalling Convo

If you need to uninstall Convo:

  1. Quit Convo if it's running
  2. Open your Applications folder
  3. Drag Convo to the Trash
  4. Empty the Trash to complete removal
