Connect your Google Calendar to Convo to see upcoming meetings in your dashboard and prepare for calls with context. This guide walks you through the connection process.
Why Connect Your Calendar?
Calendar integration helps you stay prepared by showing your next 5 upcoming events directly in the Convo dashboard. Benefits include:
- See upcoming meetings at a glance with countdown timers
- View event details (title, time, location, attendees)
- Color-coded urgency indicators (red for urgent, orange for soon, green for later)
- One-click access to open events in Google Calendar
- Filter your calls by meetings you organized
Privacy first: Convo only requests read-only access to your calendar. We never create, modify, or delete your events.

Understanding Calendar Events
Once connected, the Home view displays your next 5 upcoming events as interactive cards.
Event Card Information
Each calendar event card shows:
Event Details
Title, start time, duration, and location (if available)
Countdown Badge
Time remaining shown as "in Xh" or "in Xm"
Urgency Indicator
Red (urgent: <15min), Orange (soon: <60min), Green (upcoming)
Attendee Count
Number of people invited to the meeting
Opening Events
Click any event card to open it in Google Calendar in your default browser. This is useful for:
- Reviewing the full event description
- Checking the attendee list
- Finding meeting links (Zoom, Meet, etc.)
- Making last-minute updates to the event
Using Calendar with Calls
Calendar integration enhances the All Calls view with smart filtering.
My Calls Tab
In the All Calls view, switch to the My calls tab to see only conversations from meetings you organized. This feature:
- Automatically matches recorded conversations to calendar events
- Uses a 15-minute buffer for late starts or early ends
- Shows calls where you were the organizer in Google Calendar
- Helps you focus on meetings you led
Pro tip: Use "My calls" to quickly review meetings you organized and track follow-up actions from those conversations.
Managing Your Connection
Checking Connection Status
To verify your calendar is connected:
- Open Settings → My Account
- Look for the Google Calendar section
- A green dot and "Connected" status means you're all set
Disconnecting Calendar
If you need to disconnect your calendar:
- Go to Settings → My Account
- Find the Google Calendar section
- Click the Disconnect button
- Confirm when prompted
Disconnecting will remove Convo's access to your calendar and hide upcoming events from the dashboard. Your calendar data remains unchanged.
Reconnecting
You can reconnect at any time by following the original connection steps. Your events will reappear in the dashboard immediately after reconnection.
Privacy & Security
Convo takes calendar privacy seriously. Here's what you should know:
Read-Only Access
Convo only requests calendar.readonly permission. We cannot create, modify, or delete any of your calendar events.
Secure Token Storage
Calendar access tokens are encrypted and stored securely on Convo's backend. They're automatically refreshed before expiration and are never shared with third parties.
Automatic Cleanup
When you disconnect your calendar or sign out of Convo, all calendar tokens are immediately revoked and deleted from our systems.
User-Controlled
You can revoke Convo's calendar access at any time through Google's account settings or by disconnecting in Convo's settings.
Troubleshooting
Events not appearing
- Verify your calendar is connected (green dot in Settings → My Account)
- Check that you have upcoming events in Google Calendar
- Try refreshing the dashboard (close and reopen)
- Disconnect and reconnect your calendar
Authorization fails
If the OAuth flow fails or shows an error:
- Ensure you're using the same Google account for calendar and sign-in
- Check that pop-ups are allowed in your browser
- Try using a different browser if issues persist
- Make sure you clicked "Allow" on the permission screen
"This app isn't verified" warning
You may see this message from Google during beta testing. This is normal and safe. Click Advanced → Go to Convo (unsafe) to proceed. Convo's calendar integration is read-only and cannot modify your calendar.
Connection expired
Calendar connections automatically refresh their access tokens. If you see an "expired" message, try disconnecting and reconnecting your calendar through Settings → My Account.
Next Steps
After connecting your calendar, you can:
- Explore the dashboard features
- Set up Convo for your first meeting
- Use the "My calls" tab to filter conversations you organized
