Upgrading Your Plan

When you upgrade to a higher tier, here's what happens:

Immediate Benefits

  • Instant access to higher usage limits
  • New features available immediately
  • No waiting period or app restart required

Billing and Prorated Charges

Stripe automatically calculates prorated charges:

Example: You're on Starter monthly ($19.99/month) and upgrade to Professional monthly ($49.99/month) on day 15 of your billing cycle.

  • Credit for unused Starter time: $10 (15 days remaining)
  • Charge for Professional time: $25 (15 days at new rate)
  • Net charge today: $15
  • Next billing cycle: Full $49.99 for Professional plan

Starting a New Subscription

Both Starter and Professional plans include a 7-day free trial:

  1. Select your plan in the Customer Portal
  2. Enter payment information
  3. Start your 7-day trial immediately
  4. Full plan features available during trial
  5. First charge occurs after trial ends
  6. Cancel anytime during trial with no charge

Downgrading Your Plan

You can switch to a lower tier through the Customer Portal:

How Downgrades Work

  • Changes apply at the end of your current billing period
  • You keep current plan features until the period ends
  • No immediate charges or refunds
  • Credit for unused time applied to future charges

Example: You're on Professional monthly ($49.99/month) and downgrade to Starter monthly ($19.99/month) on day 10 of your billing cycle.

  • Professional features remain active for 20 more days
  • Starter plan begins at the start of next billing cycle
  • Next charge: $19.99 for Starter plan
  • You receive credit for the difference ($30) applied to next billing cycle

Impact on Features

When you downgrade, some features may become restricted:

  • Usage limits: Reduced daily API call limits
  • Conversation history: Older conversations may become read-only
  • Advanced features: Premium AI features may be disabled
  • Support: Priority support access ends

Switching Billing Cycles

You can switch between monthly and annual billing:

Monthly to Annual

  • Save 25% with annual billing
  • Prorated credit applied from current monthly cycle
  • Next charge is for full year at annual rate
  • Annual renewal date set to today

Annual to Monthly

  • Credit for unused annual time applied to monthly charges
  • Switch takes effect at end of annual period
  • Monthly billing begins after annual period ends
  • No immediate charges

Upgrading to Enterprise

Enterprise plans require custom configuration and pricing:

  1. Visit www.itsconvo.com/book-a-demo to schedule a call
  2. Discuss your organization's specific needs
  3. Receive custom pricing quote
  4. Sales team handles migration from current plan
  5. No data loss or service interruption during migration

Enterprise features: Everything in Professional, plus enterprise-grade security & compliance, centralized admin & team management, advanced customization & integration, and a dedicated account manager for support.

Understanding Plan Changes

When do changes take effect?

Upgrades: Immediately. New features and limits available right away.
Downgrades: At the end of your current billing period. You keep current features until then.

How is billing calculated?

Stripe calculates prorated charges based on:

  • Number of days remaining in your billing period
  • Difference in plan prices
  • Any existing credits on your account

Can I change plans multiple times?

Yes. You can change plans as often as needed. Each change is prorated accurately, and there are no penalties for switching.

What happens to my data?

All your conversation history, settings, and preferences are preserved during plan changes. Only usage limits and feature access change.

Troubleshooting

Plan change not showing in app

  • Wait 1-2 minutes for changes to sync
  • Restart the Convo app
  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify the change in Stripe Customer Portal

Payment failed during upgrade

  • Update your payment method in the Customer Portal
  • Check your card has sufficient funds
  • Contact your bank if the card is being declined
  • Try a different payment method

Unexpected charge amount

Review your invoice in the Customer Portal. Look for:

  • Prorated charges for mid-cycle upgrades
  • Credits from previous downgrades
  • Tax amounts based on billing address
  • Annual vs monthly pricing differences

Can't access Customer Portal

  • Ensure you're signed in to the Convo app
  • Check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups
  • Try manually opening the portal link from your email
